The quartz glass fused by the natural rock crystal is completely transparent. (known as quartz glass). Quartz glass with pure fused SiO2 as its main component not only boasts high purity but also has a great number of other desirable properties. Due to these features, quartz glass becomes the best choice in terms of scientific and engineering applications.
 
Low gas content

Quartz glass is quite often used on high temperature sintering processes. Therefore, the stable performance of it is especially required. As it consists of small amount of OH (oxy-hydrogen), and it is possible to release the little gas such as hydrogen, specially manufactured products should be considered to meet special demand.

 
Lowest thermal expansion
The average expansion coefficient of quartz glass is far lower than other types of glass and crystals. Compared with ceramics and hard glass, it is approximately only 17% of them, and 5% ~ 8% of general glass. Quartz glass has the extremely high heat resistance, and it can retain the stability even fast cooling right after heating up.
   
The specific heat and Thermal conductivity

Quartz glass specific heat is 890~1140J/kg.k (20℃ ~ 1000℃), against with 920~1200J/kg.k of general glass. The thermal conductivity of it is 1.3w/Mk on 0℃; and becomes to 115w/Mk on 100℃, 10% lower than crystals. After comparison, the quartz glass nearly has the slightly lower thermal conductivity.

   
Outstanding electric insulation

Quartz glass contains virtually no alkaline substances that produce electric conductivity. Compared with other types of glass, its dielectric loss is extremely small at all frequencies. Quartz is a perfect material for insulation.

   
Excellent mechanical properties
Mechanical properties of quartz are quite different from those of metals. The modulus of elasticity, bending strength and tensile strength increases along with the rising of temperature. And it escalates sharply when the temperature comes to 800 ℃ ~ 900 ℃.
 
Fine light transmissibility
From 0.18μm ultraviolet to 4μm infrared wavelength, quartz glass efficiently transmits light wavelength of almost all entire spectrum.
